Strawberry Lemonade Wine Spritzer

Yum
I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.  I had a wonderful weekend.  Most of the evenings since Friday have been spent outside around our fire pit.

Cally was home for the holiday weekend.  This summer she has to take summer classes to make sure she can graduate from Shawnee State on time.  She is a senior and will be student teaching this coming school year.  She is getting excited knowing her graduation is coming next spring.  Cally is again this summer working at Crown Market in their greenhouses to earn money to pay her bills next school year.

Cally and I had these Strawberry Lemonade Wine Spritzers with our supper on Saturday night.  Well I had wine in mine but Cally skipped the wine and added extra lemon lime soda to hers since she was going away later that evening.

The strawberry flavor comes form the homemade Strawberry Simple Syrup.  MMMMM it sure was good.

Strawberry Lemonade Wine Spritzer

Strawberry Simple Syrup
2 pounds strawberries
2 cups sugar
4 cups water
Drink
6 Tablespoons Lemonade concentrate
2 cups water
1/2 cup White Moscato wine (or to taste)
1/2 cup lemon lime soda (or to taste)

To make simple syrup: Hull and cut up strawberries.  Place strawberries and 4 cups water in a sauce pan and bring to a boil.  Reduce heat and continue to simmer until the strawberries turn white in color (mine took about 15 minutes)  Drain by pouring the liquid through a mesh strainer.  Be sure not to mash the strawberries to try and get more juice out of them because this will make your simple syrup cloudy.  After draining the strawberries out of the mixture return the juice to the heat adding in 2 cups of sugar.  Bring the juice and sugar to a boil and continue to boil until sugar is dissolved  (mine was about 4 minutes)  Cool strawberry simple syrup and then refrigerate.

To make Lemonade:  Mix together 6 Tablespoons lemonade concentrate and 2 cups water together.

Assemble Drink:  Mix together in a pitcher lemonade and 1 cup strawberry simple syrup.

In your glass pour the desired amount of Strawberry Lemonade and then add to taste the wine and lemon lime soda.  If you wish you may add cut up strawberries and lemons to float in your drink.
