Frozen Wine Slushies

If you are looking for a refreshing drink this summer, I have found it!  My mother-in-law found a wine slushie mix while she was in Amish Country last week.  So of course I had to find a way to make one without worrying about having to find the mix :)

After doing some research on line I found a recipe that I slightly adapted.  The wine slushies were easy to make but hard to wait on them to get frozen :)

This 4th of July weekend I also made another frozen treat.... Cally's favorite Ice Cream......... Cookies-n-Cream!  The chocolate Oreo's were still crunchy and oh so good!

Cally was also in a Wedding.  Bill and I attended Laura and Andrew's wedding.  Everything was absolutely beautiful!  These are Cally's best friends Janie, Laura and Nikki

Cally made the wedding cake.  Laura chose a Naked Cake

Cally also made all the cupcakes.  She made White Cupcakes with strawberries on top and Carrot Cake Cupcakes.  The were awesome!!

I actually ran out of time to have my frozen slushies the night I made them.  Bill was called out after hours for work so I thought I would surprise him when he got home.  However after 3 hours in the freezer my slushies were not frozen enough.  I left them in the freezer overnight and by morning they were frozen solid.  I put them in the refrigerator while we attended a car show and 8 hours later they were perfect!

Since I mentioned the car show.... Here is the morning of the 4th and we were giving the car a bath for the show in Urbana later that morning.... 640 cars were at this show!

Here is a picture while we were at the show.  It was a beautiful 4th of July day!

Frozen Wine Slushies

1 bottle of wine ( I used White Zinfandel )
1 wine bottle of water
1 1/2 teaspoons Citric Acid
1 3/4 cups sugar  (less if using a sweet wine)

Put sugar and Citric Acid in a food processor or I used my Ninja blender and pulse until the sugar is powdery.

Pour wine into a plastic container.

Pour a full wine bottle of water into the plastic container.

Pour the sugar/citric acid mixture into the plastic container and stir to mix up.

Put the wine mixture into the freezer for about 6 hours or until frozen to desired consistency.  You may also freeze overnight and then place in the refrigerator for 8 hours to thaw to the slushie consistency.
